Product description
The Sun is our central star, and observing its dynamic surface offers a rewarding experience for stargazers. Omegon Helievo solar filters eliminate the hassle of DIY assembly: they come fully assembled in a sturdy aluminum cell and easily attach directly to your telescope.
Safety is the top priority: the proven AstroSolar foil provides maximum protection. With a filter factor of 100,000, only 0.001% of sunlight passes into the telescope, making solar viewing completely safe at all times.
Areas of application and observation recommendations:
This solar filter is ideal for observing sunspots, solar flares, surface granulation, and solar eclipses.
Important safety guidelines for solar eclipse observation:
- Partial solar eclipse: As long as the Moon has not completely covered the Sun, the filter or protective cover must remain on the telescope continuously.
- Total solar eclipse: The filter may be removed only during the brief total phase once the final ray of sunlight disappears behind the Moon ("diamond ring"). As soon as the "diamond ring" reappears, the filter must immediately be reattached to the telescope. The same procedure applies to solar eclipse glasses. For partial eclipses, protection must stay fitted throughout the entire observation.
