Observation Guidelines for Solar Eclipses:

• Partial Solar Eclipse: As long as the Moon has not completely covered the Sun, the filter or protective cap must remain securely fitted on the telescope at all times.
• Total Solar Eclipse: Once the last trace of sunlight disappears from the Moon”s edge (“diamond ring”), the filter may be safely removed. The total phase is brief (lasting only a few minutes). Enjoy the view, but stay alert: as soon as the “diamond ring” reappears behind the Moon, immediately re-attach the filter to your telescope or binoculars!
• Solar Observation Glasses: During the partial phase, view the Sun only through certified eclipse glasses; during the total phase, remove the glasses.
