The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO MAK 102/1300 SQ2 is built on the Maksutov-Cassegrain design. This design is valued for its compact, travel-friendly size, sealed optics, and complete absence of chromatic aberration. Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes rarely need collimation thanks to their sealed tube and rigidly mounted optics — but, if needed, adjustment screws let you fine-tune the mirror alignment in the rare cases when it shifts after years of use or rough transport.

What can the telescope see?

The kit includes three SUPER eyepieces with different focal lengths: 25mm, 20mm, and 10mm. They provide magnifications of 52x, 65x, and 130x. What you see and how much detail you get depends on the magnification you choose.

With the 25mm eyepiece, the whole Moon appears at once. It looks like a map from an astronomy atlas. The wide field of view is also enough to find the Pleiades cluster. Bright blue stars on a black background impress even experienced observers. The Orion Nebula looks like a grayish cloud with four tiny stars in the center: the famous Trapezium.

With the 20mm eyepiece, you can find Jupiter”s disk and its four main moons (Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto). The Moon comes even closer, revealing craters and mountain ranges in greater detail.

However, the real magic starts with the 10mm eyepiece. On the Moon, you see seas, craters inside craters, and shadow details along the terminator. On Jupiter”s disk, the main cloud belts and the Great Red Spot appear. Saturn shows its rings and the moon Titan floating nearby. The globular cluster M13 in Hercules looks like a bright fuzzy ball, and double stars like Albireo, Mizar, and Alcor resolve into individual stars.

Manual mount and accessories

The optical tube sits on an SQ2 equatorial mount with manual control. It comes with slow-motion knobs that make aiming comfortable even by touch. The mount”s main advantage is compensating for Earth”s daily rotation. You don”t have to worry about the object drifting out of view. Just turn one knob, and it comes back into view.

The box also includes a red dot finder. With it, the night sky turns into a catalog of targets. You can catch each one in the eyepiece in less than a minute. A sturdy steel tripod with an accessory tray serves as the base. It keeps the optical tube steady and the image stable.

Key features:

  • Study the Moon in full detail: craters, mountains, basalt seas, rilles, and details along the light-shadow boundary
  • Observe thousands of near and deep-sky objects: planets, moons, comets, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters
  • Use the accessory tray to keep eyepieces, a Barlow lens, filters, and small tools within reach
  • Ready-to-go kit for observing the same evening — no need to buy extra accessories
  • The optical design delivers a clear and high-contrast image. Bright objects stand out against a black sky without color halos.
  • Sealed Maksutov-Cassegrain design rarely needs collimation; adjustment screws are provided for the rare cases when it does.
