A stereo microscope with Greenough optical design offers precise detailed surface topography without loss of spatial orientation, thus ensuring high depth of field when viewing three-dimensional objects.
The microscope smoothly changes the magnification factor 8.4 times in the range from 6.5x to 55x, while maintaining a working distance of 105mm. It has built-in lights for examining natural and reflective objects. The microscope allows for the installation of polarized light and darkfield accessories.
The camera in the digital microscope allows for capturing the observation process, including intermediate and final phenomena. The 21MP sensor provides the necessary resolution for the stereo microscope. A 4/3" sensor with a 1x adapter displays the microscope's lowest magnification field of view on a computer screen at 26.76x20mm.
The microscope is used in restoration, assembly, and quality control, as well as in the fields of zoology and botany.
Digital Camera
The MAGUS CBF70 scientific digital camera with 21MP resolution and 4/3" sensor combines ultra-low noise levels and ultra-high sensitivity to ensure clear images and videos with details.
The camera is suitable for working with the full magnification range of the microscope's lens from 0.65x to 5.5x.
Since the sensor size is 4/3", a 1x C-mount adapter is used to attach the camera to the microscope. The field of view displayed on the screen is as close as possible to the field of view in the eyepiece, but the rounder field of view is cropped from four sides.
The 21MP sensor produces a realist picture size of 5280x3954px. At this resolution, the frame rate is 17 frames per second, which is sufficient to adjust the microscope focus.
At resolutions 2640x1976px, 1760x1316px, and 584x438px, the frequency increases accordingly to 56fps, 67fps, and 192fps. The transitions between frames become smoother, and the camera captures smaller movements of the object. These modes are suitable for classroom demonstrations, video recording, and tracking moving objects.
USB 3.0 enables data transfer 10 times faster than USB 2.0, thus ensuring comfort when working with a video stream that is free from barriers and failures even when the object is moved at a 21MP resolution.
Microscope Head
A 360° rotatable trinocular head that can be locked in the desired position. The digital camera is installed using a C-mount adapter into the trinocular tube.
The light path does not change. The distribution ratio is fixed: 80% goes to the eyepiece and 20% to the trinocular tube. The user can view the image both in the eyepieces and on the screen at the same time.
The basic equipment includes 10x/22mm eyepieces with diopter adjustment and eye relief for working with glasses.
Zoom Objective
The objective allows smooth magnification adjustments up to 8.4 times without losing focus, maintaining a large working distance of 105mm. The microscope generates an upright (non-inverted) three-dimensional image. Add-ons modify the microscope's magnification range, field of view, and working distance.
Focus Mechanism
Co-axial coarse and fine focusing knobs are located on both sides of the stand. The fine focus makes it easy to adjust the microscope when using magnifications above 40x. The tension of the coarse focus is adjustable.
Stage Plate
Depending on the sample, either a frosted glass plate or a black and white plate is chosen. The frosted glass plate ensures uniform lighting and optimal light diffusion when viewing transparent and semi-transparent objects. The black and white plate is selected for viewing opaque objects against a contrasting background: the black side for light objects and the white side for dark objects.
Light Sources
The microscope features a 3W LED transmitted light source and a 3W LED oblique reflected light source. The LED lifespan: 50,000 hours.
Accessories
A wide variety of accessories are available for the microscope.
Eyepieces and additional zoom objectives extend the microscope's magnification range.
Digital cameras output images from the microscope to a monitor.
C-mount adapters connect the camera to the microscope. The adapter magnification is selected to match the size of the camera sensor.
Calibration slides are used for measuring samples. The calibration slide for stereo microscopes has a scale value of 0.1mm.
The polarizer/analyzer set is used for examining anisotropic samples.
The polar light condenser with gem holder is for examining gems and semi-precious stones.
Ring light is used to ensure shadow-free illumination of the work area in reflected light.
Ring light with polarizer removes glare from polished metal surfaces in images.
The mechanical stage allows smooth movement of samples along two axes and provides additional comfort when using magnifications over 20x.
Ring light with sector adjustment and a flexible light arm is used for fine-tuning light in the work area. Light is chosen at an angle, creating necessary light shadows for observations while part of the sample remains illuminated.
Universal bases allow the extension of the work area, giving more freedom in selecting the position of the microscope head over the workstation.
